Recently, the world-renowned PV manufacturer Jetion Solar (China) Co., Ltd. (“Jetion Solar”) announced that the 133MW Puerto Real 1 project in Spain with all the modules provided by Jetion Solar, was officially connected to the grid on March 18, 2021 after more than 7 months of construction.
It is reported that the "Puerto Real" project is located in the administrative district of Puerto Real, in the province of Cadiz, Spain, with a total planned capacity of 223 MW. It is one of the largest unsubsidized utility-scale solar power plants currently constructed in Spain. The project was developed by WElink Group, while China Triumph International Engineering Co.,Ltd. (CTIEC) was in charge of the design, procurement and construction (EPC) of the entire project. The first phase of the project “Puerto Real 1” has a planned capacity of 133 MW, using more than 330,000 pieces of Jetion Solar JT SGh395W 1500V high-efficiency mono PERC PV modules. It is estimated to reduce greenhouse emissions by over 175,000 metric tons once fully operational – the equivalent of emissions produced by 38,000 passenger vehicles driven for a year or the electricity to power almost 30,000 homes for a year. Over the lifetime of the project, the site employed up to 300 workers, many from the local area.
During the supply period of the project, Jetion Solar overcame the adverse factors such as the price spike in the second half of 2020, logistics difficulties caused by the epidemic, and finished the work in an efficient and timely manner, helping the project to be completed on schedule.
Victor Jimenez, the Project Director of WElink Group, said, “CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WHOLE TEAM CTIEC-WElink!! We have achieved a key milestone, the energization of PR1 PV plant project 133MW. The achievement was possible thanks to efforts and commitment of Jetion Solar, Elmya, ABB-Hitachi, Isastur, Siemens, PVHardware, PUK Solar, and Procinsa, among others. Thank you very much to you all, you did a really nice job. This unsubsidized project is part of our long-term development strategy and we look forward to further opportunities in Spain."
It is worth mentioning that in March 2020, Capital Dynamics, an independent global private asset management firm, announced that its Clean Energy Infrastructure (“CEI”) business completed the acquisition of a 100% equity stake in the 133 MW Puerto Real 1 project. Then in March 2021, Capital Dynamics announced again that it had completed the acquisition of 100% equity stake of the upcoming 50 MW Puerto Real 2 project.
Spain has one of the highest solar resources in Europe and a favorable operating environment with low development costs. Jetion Solar supplied modules for the “Puerto Real 1” 133 MW project in Spain, which further expanded Jetion Solar’s market share in Spain and consolidated our leading position. In the future, we will seize market opportunities and continue to provide clean, economical and reliable solar energy to customers in Europe and around the world to help the development of global renewable energy.
